Dear Eastwood Families,
Eastwood School would like to help recognize Autism Awareness Day, on April 2nd.
Autism is a spectrum disorders (ASD) that is diagnosed in 1 in 88 children. It is often characterized by social, communication and learning challenges. People with autism often show talent in music, drawing, computer skills and memory.
We would like to celebrate the diversity that autism brings to our school. To support our students that have autism and their families, we are asking that all staff and students wear red on Wednesday April 2nd, 2014.
In addition, we will be selling Autism Awareness bracelets, for $2.00, beginning this week. The money raised will go to Autism Ontario to assist local families.
In order to help our students better understand Autism and how they can support their friends and classmates with ASD, Eastwood will host a presentation for our junior division, on Tuesday April 22@ 11:00. If you would like to attend please contact Mr. Cowper.
Please show support by having your child wear red on April 2nd.
If you wish to purchace an Autism Awarness bracelet, please return $2.00 for each bracelet.
